History of Angaria

Angaria’s history

Angaria began as a fishermen’s colony on an island reshaped by a meteor impact, near the east coast of Japan in the 16th century. Which then developed into a city over the course of 400 years. Which was struck by an earthquake in 1923. Followed by a tsunami which destroyed most of the city. To prevent further disaster, Angaria built a tsunami wall. After the destruction the city was rebuilt in Bauhaus and Art Deco architecture style. Shortly thereafter in 1925 crystallized diesel was discovered, resulting in an incredible industrial boom. The discovery also led to the creation of the first versions of the ANGEL Units, invented by A.N.T.A. (Angarian National Technology Association), designed for heavy duty transport and other operations.

Diesel provided in both normal as well as crystallized form began to take over the role of electricity. It began to power larger machinery, vehicles and even household items. This big demand in diesel power was met by Angaria’s own oil refinery. Which provided crystallized diesel, normal diesel and its by-products in abundance. This led to Angaria becoming heavily polluted over the years, covering the city under a layer of thick smog.

In 1926 the great Angarian war started, causing A.N.T.A. to modify the ANGEL Units into combat machines. Additionally, Angaria’s industry started to produce large quantities of weapons, ammunition and other war oriented supplies. By 1930 Angaria spiraled out of control. The efficient crystallized diesel, combat ANGEL Units and the great Angarian war caused most prefectures of Japan to be ruled by those with the most powerful weapons. In most cases those people were big corporations and industrialists.

Japan reintroduced the code of Bushido, the samurai honor. The CEO of A.N.T.A. took the role of daimyo – feudal lord with power over vast amounts of land. The ANGEL Units are A.N.T.A’s. important tools in the constant struggle between the daimyo lords that are ready to invade Angaria.

Angaria was controlled by A.N.T.A. Possessing the refinery and industrial area. In 1945 this rule was challenged as an enormous conflict erupted between A.N.T.A and a nearby rival company, destroying most of the northeast sector of Angaria and causing the death of the CEO of A.N.T.A.

After the disastrous loss of the A.N.T.A. CEO, all of the ANGEL Units that were produced after 1945 got befitted with safety measures. And incorporated a failsafe system into the Cell Chips of the ANGEL Units, to prevent the ANGEL Units from attacking A.N.T.A staff and the citizens of Angaria. Additionally the ACE-R.C.S.V. Unit (Ace Remote Control Signal Verification Unit) was instantiated for A.N.T.A’s most talented remote control signal verification pilots. To master the combat situations, to protect A.N.T.A and Angaria from further disgrace. The ANGEL Unit provided to the ACE-R.C.S.V. Unit however, were deliberately old models and in a serious state of decay. This was intended to make the remote control signal verification pilots train harder than the other units, in order to be able to cope with anything.

Despite the losses, A.N.T.A. was victorious, however Angaria was largely abandoned by its citizens. With their homes severely damaged or destroyed, many inhabitants fled or were evacuated. A.N.T.A. was able to ensure their employees would stay, as A.N.T.A. refitted Angaria as their weapons development test-site, eventually growing into the ANGEL Unit military training ground once the last citizens left in 1960.
